Mistral Depression (Le Midi remix)

from The Echo Tapes by BlindººCoyote

/

about

Remixed version of a track that featured on Drem B.'s very first ever release titled "Tribute To A Threadbare Bridge", which came out in 1983 (500 copies), and which will be re-released on vinyl this year 2013 through Minimal Wave, containing the 14 original track versions.

This piece was inspired by Drem's stay in the town of Orange, southern France, during one winter. The wind that blows there for weeks on end is called "mistral", and keeps everybody off the streets. All one hears is a ferocious howling and the slamming of shutters and blinds. At night a bartender in an empty bar told him that people get mad and depressed during the winter months, which did not seem to surprise him at all...
